Repost: The Youth - Jesus Keepeth My Soul / Fire Fire

I'm reposting this one because it is the only one that I've had several email inquiries about. As I've found out from the people emailing me about it, these two were big in Western Africa during the early to mid 70s.

Both are killer tunes, so enjoy! As I probably mentioned in the last post for this record, The Youth was an early psuedonym for Ijahman Levi, the featured vocalist on these tracks.

Kealyn Beckford - Hey Little Girl / Combination

Kiiiiiiiiiller rocksteady!

This is one of my favorites from the new lot. I previously had an Alvin Ranglin production of Beckford performing an awesome version of Paul Simon's "Cecelia," so I was excited about this one. Kealyn found his wasy into the business as the nephew of the famed Theophilus Beckford. These two scorchers feature his youthful voice and are from 1968.
